The most significant improvement in winch handles in 30 years.

THE ONETOUCH STORY

Background & Development

In the spring of 2003, Don Steiner was tacking in close quarters when his locking winch handle jammed. The handle was the old “square-plate” locking style prone to such jamming, usually at the most inopportune times. The problem could not be repaired on board so the handle was taken ashore for repairs.

Once apart on the workbench, the handle revealed its fundamentally flawed design. Don realized that, even after repairs, it was just a matter of time until the rotating square plate mechanism would jam again. He could not help but feel there was a better solution to this common problem. Shortly thereafter, the fundamentals of the OneTouch design began to take shape.

See Technical & Operaton for more details.

Over the next year, the OneTouch was taken from concept to reality. Prototypes were made, tested, refined, and made again. During this time a patent for the design was applied for, processed, and in due course awarded.

While the metal version of our design has been licensed to others for production, Dax Labs, LLC, took on the challenge of making the OneTouch composite handle a reality. The guideline for Dax was to use the latest production techniques, the highest quality materials, and no-compromise engineering to deliver a strong, lightweight, and dependable product. That challenge has now been met.
